Backlist Bash: Kassanna

Today is a sad day…it ends our Backlist Bash. Here to lead us out with a bang is author Kassanna, talking about her paranormal romance/horror title, SEXUAL HEALING.

SHR: What makes this particular book your favorite?

KASS:  I have several favorites but I found this particular book interesting because of the concept of Vampires catching STD’s.

SHR: Who published it? When?
KASS: Sugar and Spice Press published it on Oct 27, 2012 right in time for Halloween.

SHR: Tell us a little about what you went through to get it published.

KASS: I have a couple stories I wrote with horror in mind. I wasn’t sure they would get published so I decided to try with my short first. I was lucky the publisher liked the idea.
SHR: On writing in general: What’s the hardest part for you? Why?

KASS: The sex in my erotic books. I’m always trying to one up my own books so I try to think out of the box when it comes to sex. Lately I’ve had to get very creative. *hehe*

SHR: Unrelated: What’s your favorite color?

KASS: Right now burnt orange.

ABOUT SEXUAL HEALING:

GENRE:

Paranormal Romance / Horror

BLURB:

Rebecca’s clan has gone crazy. A virus has broken out and is running rampant through the vampire colonies. She is tasked with locating a virologist that could help her kindred scientist locate a cure. Rebecca has found the one man that would help them, but it may be too late.

Damian Micheals is a virologist that enjoys the puzzle of the human body. He’s more than a little enthralled when a mocha beauty lands in his lab asking for his help. Of course, he’s willing to hear her out and wants to get to know her better, until she tells him her tale and he decides that her beauty isn’t worth the price of putting up with her insanity.

Vampires do not exist. At least they didn’t until he is attacked.

Now they are rushing in a race against time to find a cure that would save her people and keep those infected from preying on his, and all it may take is a little sexual healing.

EXCERPT:

The bodies of the security guards crashed through the glass doors and landed inside the lab with a thump, both of them lifeless. Damian watched the sexy woman in leather as she pulled sword from her back. The sound of metal scraping leather split the air. She jerked a gun from the waistband of her pants and pressed the cool metal into his hand.

“No really, who the fuck are you?” he whispered.

“Right now I am the only chance you have to live. The gun won’t stop them but it will hurt like hell. Those hollow tip bullets are filled with holy water. Keep your back to the glass.” She wrapped both hands around the hilt of the claymore and moved to stand in front of him.

The door hurtled open and two men built like tanks stepped across the threshold one at a time. She took a defensive stance and twirled the blade in her palms.

“Rebecca, father sent us.” The taller of the two spoke. “We’re to bring you back to our labs at the Silver Moon colony.”

“Two words, Stanis. Bull Shit. Father put the colonies under quarantine.” Her voice dropped an octave. “Who freed you, Stanis?”

“That’s of no consequence. We need a cure and that human is the only one who can help us. I was told to take him. Your life matters little to us.” He sneered.

“Then you will take him over my dead, cold body.”

“That shouldn’t be hard since you’re halfway there.” Stanis charged her.

Her attention diverted by the threat before her, Damian watched as the other man shifted into the shadows stealthily moving towards them. He raised a shaking hand in the direction he thought the guy moved in, firing a shot when he saw two flashes of red. The being jumped from the corner arms wide, then she was there slicing the blade in an upward arc right through the man. Blood splattered across the chairs and walls. The two halves of his body fell in different directions. She turned to look at him and he saw dots of fluid peppered her face.

“Dude, if you want to get out of this alive put that chair through the fucking window, now!” She kicked his office chair toward him.

Damian stared at the furniture piece and then at the gun in his hand. He tucked the weapon in his pants and quickly pulled it out for fear that he would shoot off his balls. Thinking about it, he jammed it down in the small of his back as he’d seen it done on some television show. He grabbed the arms of the office hair and, screaming, swung it toward the bank of window panes. The glass shattered, raining various sized shards that tinkled as they hit the floor. Damian turned to get her attention and watched mesmerized as she floated through the air, legs tucked under her, sword attached to her back, and a pair of machete length knives held in each hand. She crossed her arms as she fell before the big guy. A big X bled through his shirt from hip to shoulder and he stumbled back. She swirled rising to her feet and started running toward Damian, grabbing him by the collar as she passed him. He glanced her way and she winked.

“Remember to tuck and roll,” she yelled as she tugged him with her through the empty window panes.

He swallowed as he flew through the cool night air with her.
